  • nbncmissions

Most people use blogs to share their point of view on many subjects from politics and religion to pop culture and science. Some use their blogs to communicate with others. A few use it to communicate with themselves by putting their thoughts down in writing. Reflecting on my past blogs here and on other sites, I believe my blogs serve both purposes for me. It gives me a chance to share my opinion as well as reflect on my personal worldview.

As a Christian and American, I believe sharing not only the Gospel of Jesus Christ but the views which I am entitled to under the Constitution of the United States of America.  Saying this, I understand that other Christians and secular Americans are entitled to those same rights and there will be differences of opinion. For those that I have offended, I will yet again apologize but I will stick to my positions.  However, for those who encourage me, I offer my sincerest gratitude. Both sides have encouraged continued growth here in my blog and in my personal walk.

Many of my early readers have noticed that my blog has changed from its original purpose as a source of information and encouragement for the Southern Missionaries. While I still update on our missionaries as well as select others (probably should do it more often), my focus has changed to personal and local missions. I believe that all missions, whether here or abroad, start with the individual as an idea or concept. It easy to imagine of far away places when someone talks of missions but ninety percent of all missions occur in our neighborhoods. As Christians we are called to do three things: Love God[1], Love ourselves and others[2], and Go out into the world and tell the “Good News” of Jesus Christ and make disciples of them[3]. While these three are paraphrased somewhat, they epitomize the very essence of missions.

Many of you will recognize the big three from my previous blog and while there has been some question about the being the three greatest, most have agreed that they are very important in our role as Christians. Take the time to see what “mission” you can accomplish and remember that with God there is no “Mission Impossible.”

    Blessings,

    Steve

P.S.  As the Holiday Season turns into Advent and the Christmas season, remember that this an excellent time to witness about the wonders and majesty of Jesus Christ. Keeping Christ in Christmas is not only a cause, it is a responsibility.
